Contestants compete in 4 areas of competition:

• Interview (40% of score)
  Interviews will be conducted between 5 judges and contestant. Each contestant will have 5 minutes with each judge. No political or religious questions allowed. Each contestant will need to have a platform for which she will speak on during her year, if selected Miss Teen Minnesota International.
   
• Evening Gown (20% of score)
  Each contestant will wear her own personal choice of evening gown. Each contestant will be judged on grace, poise and elegance in Evening Wear.
   
• Fitness Wear (20% of score)
  Each contestant will wear the state selected fitness wear, designed specifically for Mrs. Minnesota contestants. Each contestant will be judged on being physically fit, energetic, and healthy.
   
• Fun Fashion Wear (20% of score)
  Each Contestant will wear her own personal choice of fashion wear. Her outfit should reflect her personality and be something that shows off her flair for fashion and style.

Rules & Regulations

• Contestant must be single, never married or given birth to a child.
   
• Contestant must be at least 13-18 years of age by July 1st of competition year.
   
• Contestant must be a U.S. citizen and a six month minimum resident of the State of Minnesota.
   
• Contestant will be subject to a registration and sponsor fee.
   
• Contestant must be born female.
   
• Contestant must never have, nor will during her reign, pose for any photography, video or film associated with nudity or pornography. Nor has she ever, or is presently involved with prostitution or any form of employment which involves partial or complete nudity.
   
• Contestant must have never been convicted of a felony crime.
   
• Contestant, if selected, must agree to attend the Miss Teen International Pageant, if selected as the State winner and abide by all the rules and regulations required by same or forfeit title.
   
• If Contestant relinquishes, for any reason, any title given her, all prizes must be returned in full.
